Prof. Safa Gürsoy is an orthopaedic surgeon working in hip arthroscopy and hip preservation, knee ligament and meniscus surgery, cartilage treatment and joint replacement. Since 2024 he has been a professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Acıbadem University School of Medicine and an attending surgeon at Acıbadem Ataşehir Hospital, Istanbul.
He studied medicine at Çukurova University (2003–2009), including an exchange period at the University of Palermo in 2007, and completed his orthopaedic residency at Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital (2009–2014). During this time he trained as a visiting fellow at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna (2013) and in the division of shoulder surgery at Johns Hopkins University (2014).
He served as assistant professor (2017–2019) and associate professor (2019) at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and completed a PhD in musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine in 2020. From 2020 to 2022 he was a sports medicine fellow at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, supported by a TÜBİTAK international postdoctoral research fellowship. He became associate professor at Acıbadem University in 2022 and professor in 2024.
He has 100 international papers, 11 international book chapters (Springer, AAOS) and 1,745 citations. Most of his research is about the operations he performs, and he has given podium presentations at international meetings including ESSKA and AOSSM. He consults in Turkish and English; interpreters for other languages are available through Acıbadem International.
